The International Association of Athletics Federation overpaid their annual grants to the Athletic Federation of Nigeria, $150000 instead of $15000. Now they want the balance of $135000 back, but it has gone into voicemail. They have spent it. They even blame IAAF of overpaying the AFN.
But I ask, would such a big international organization pay you without informing you of the amount? My guess is, they knew they were overpaid, but they kept quiet hoping that it won't be detected. They have promised to pay back the money.
If you receive money that you are not expecting, won't you ask questions? This is simply a trust issue. And the AFN and the ministry of sports failed the test, just like many Nigerian institutions would have done.
